In order to drive a private hire vehicle (cab) in the Worthing area you will need to register with Worthing Council & apply for & obtain a private hire license.
A private hire license is different to a Hackney license in that private hire drivers cannot pick up from the street & all of their work must be phoned through to the office.
In general private hire drivers earn more than Hackeny drivers, whilst they charge with higher fares they cover more dead mileage & can sit around on taxi ranks in very long queues waiting for their next job.
To become a licensed private hire driver you will need to take a knowledge test of Worthing, provide an enhanced CRB check & a medical certificate of fitness, recently it has become a requirement to hold a NVQ as well.
